The Art Of Russia

With a tour of a museum the extensive historical pieces from every corner of Russia is staggering. Russia is such a huge area of land and has many cultures from border to border.

Cathedral of Christ the Saviour is filled with amazing mosaics and historical artwork. The art of the icon has strong cultural ties that unite many together in the 11th century. In the 13th century the Mongolians caused immense iconoclasm by destroy religious art. Christianity was forced into hiding deep in the forests. This was know as the the Silent Centuries.

Painting of the Icon is a time honored tradition and has remained the same for centuries. This was recognised by the communist parties who appropriated this Lenin and Stalin had portraits created as an icon.
Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral was the first western designed in an Italian Baroque fashion.
